Music educators would earn a lot by earning a music education degree.  Working with young persons in music can be a rewarding experience. The program would also help them develop a deep appreciation. The music education graduate program is designed to give the candidate a detailed study of the theory,  skills,  research well as the necessary skill needed to check out the broader significance of Music Education as it affects the contemporary social context.

THE PROGRAM AIMS TO:

• Offer a diverse and broad graduate program in Music Education.
• Provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge as well as the experiences and attitudes which are needed in the area of Music Education.
• Create the environment for students to participate in and develop musical and pedagogical activities of great standard which are within the scope of educational settings.
• Helps students to develop a critical thinking approach to projects and carry out in-depth research which is related to teaching and learning of music,  which could be within and outside of the school environment. This is achieved through informal and formal teaching methods.
• Students learn how to research areas of Music Education.
• The program also teaches students how to successfully and effectively carry out different teaching and artistic engagements as teachers in either private or public schools,  organizations, and conservatories.

• The program helps to equip the student with knowledge and skills which is required to conduct,  study, and evaluate critically the research in Music Education and this provides them with renowned experience as music educators.
• Train music educators who would be creative and actively engage with their colleagues and students.

The program gives students the necessary knowledge skills and attitudes that will enable them to remain active leaders in the musical, cultural and educational life of their community.

LEARNING OUTCOMES.

Students would  be able to do the following  upon the successful  completion of  their programs :

• Design, prepare and present educational research, of a small or large scale, in the area of Music Education.
• Create and prepare concise educational research in the areas of Music Education.
• Would be able to critically analyze research done on various methodologies in Music Education.
• Properly analyze historical and philosophical dimensions of music education reflecting on their importance and their significance in teaching.
• Properly study the theories as well as the research findings of music psychology and see how they can be applied to pedagogy.
• Be able to analyze from a sociological perspective,  institutions,  processes, and challenges in Music Education.
• Prefer solutions to certain contemporary educational challenges.
• Design relevant curricular based on concepts and theories concerning current research done.
• Carry out a well-organized spectrum of music repertoire which is originating from different historical periods and diverse musical genres and civilizations while still comparing the diverse aesthetic,  social and historical background.
• After graduation,  the individuals would be able to lead and direct choral and Instrument ensembles with a certain level of musical and technical excellence.
• Adopt the use of certain technological tools to help make their teaching much more effective to aid learning whilst demonstrating their musical and pedagogical value.
• Confidently participate in different repertoires with high precision,  sensitivity, and musicality.
